The BEC will host more than 7,000 professionals from the agri-food industry from May 17 to 19


Under the slogan “The Foodtech Revolution”, it will have 283 exhibiting firms, and 386 international experts will participate in the Food 4 Future World Summit, the largest European congress on food innovation.

Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC) will host the second edition of the Food 4 Future contest from May 17 to 19, which will feature 283 exhibiting firms and which expects to bring together more than 7,000 professionals from the agri-food industry from more than 30 countries.

under the motto “The Foodtech Revolution”the event aims to position the Basque Country as a hub for food innovation at an international level and offer these professionals the opportunity to promote said innovation in their operating model.

The organization of the event has highlighted that Food 4 Future will show the innovations and solutions that are transforming the food sector, as well as success stories and applications of food technology to achieve a safer, more sustainable and healthier industry.

The exhibiting firms will present to professionals in the food and beverage sector their latest technological solutions and food products that “will help modernize and digitize” the entire value chain of the industry, from raw materials to logistics processes.

Besides, 386 international experts will participate in the Food 4 Future World Summitthe largest European congress on food innovation where they will discuss the challenges of the sector in all its segments: meat, fish, dairy, oil industry, agriculture, cereals, preserves, and beverages.

For her part, the Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapiahighlighted that Food 4 Future combines food and technology, two areas in which the Basque Country “has a lot to contribute”.

He stressed that the Basque Country has “an organized and well-structured primary sector” and a food industry “reduced, but with high added value”, along with “a technological alliance” through the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), training qualified and an internationally recognized restaurant sector.

The Deputy for Economic Promotion of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Ainara Basurkopointed out that “the food industry is facing a revolution that reaches the entire value chain” and that it leads to “horizons that are more sustainable, efficient and responsible in the forms of consumption and production”.

He highlighted that the first edition of Food 4 Future reached 29 countries through its streaming conferences and that more than 5,000 visitors from 22 countries attended the event, which generated an economic impact of 9 million euros.
