As reported by La República, the Petroperú board entrusted the general management to Jesús Fernando de la Torre, current corporate finance manager of the state oil company and close to the resigning Hugo Chávez Arévalo.
De la Torre Tejeda has a degree in Administration from the Universidad del Pacífico, with a Master of Business Administration, specializing in International Banking.
It is important to mention that, in the meetings that the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, held with the resigning Hugo Chávez between Saturday and Sunday, Jesús de la Torre was also present.
Various sources in the sector revealed that this official follows the same line as Chavez. They also warn that De la Torre would be the promoter of the confidentiality clause and the failed negotiations with PwC, which is why today the company lacks an audit. Likewise, they point to him as the promoter of Petroperú ignoring the agreement with Altamesa for the operation of Block 192.
