The Gipuzkoa inshore fleet will remain moored on Tuesday and will analyze the situation every day

The general secretary of the Itsas Etxea brotherhood of San Sebastián has confirmed that the decision affects the purse-seine fleet, now focused on the coastal anchovy and mackerel fleets.

The Gipuzkoa inshore fleet, which has been moored in port since last week due to the transportation strikehas decided to continue to stop at least until this Tuesday, after which it will analyze the situation every day.

The general secretary of the Itsas Etxea brotherhood of San Sebastián, look Garmendiahas confirmed that the decision has been adopted at a meeting held this Monday and affects the purse seine fleetnow focused on the coastal anchovy and mackerel.

In Gipuzkoa, the purse seine fleet is made up of some 45 boatsbased fundamentally on the ports of Pasaia, Getaria, Hondarribia and Orio.

The boats of this territory agreed last Tuesday to join the consensus decision between the Cantabrian fleet to remain stopped at least until Monday as the distribution of their catches is not guaranteed as a result of the transport strike.

The fleet has met again this Monday and has decided to continue in Port tomorrow after which they will decide day by day depending on how the situation evolves.

For now, the Pasaia fish market is operating normally thanks to the goods it receives from ships from other places and from the deep-sea fleet.
