Movistar rates will rise up to S / 14.10 from April

Movistar reported that from April it will apply an average increase of S/ 6.30 in its rates to the fixed internet service, pay television and products packaged in duos and trios.

However, he specified that in some services the increase will exceed S/ 14.00.

“In the case of internet services (mono and duos), the increase varies from S/ 2.10 and S/ 9.10; and in the case of internet + TV duo services and trios, the increase varies from S/ 8.10 to S/ 14.10″, the operator explained to The Republic.

Regarding the deadline for the readjustment, the telephone company explained that it will take effect next month “according to the billing cycle of each client.”

On the justification for the increase, noted that it is driven by investments in technology that the company carried out in the last two years as a result of the fact that during the pandemic “the use of the internet in homes doubled due to the change in the dynamics of consumption at home.”

Finally, the operator specified that, in accordance with the regulations, they have notified their clients from the February 28th about the tariff changes and that they will send a second notice 10 days before the entry into force of the same.

“We are offering facilities to customers who wish to request the migration to another plan or cancel your line without any type of obstacle”, he added.

Users can migrate

In this regard, the Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) He emphasized that, in the face of increases in their rate plan, users have the right to request a change in their plan or cancellation of the service without conditions or explanations to the operating company.

He also stressed that companies cannot hinder migration requests to lower priced plans, porting to other operators, temporary suspensions or cancellations of the service if the users do not agree with the rate adjustments to their service plans.

He pointed out that companies must indicate to their clients which are the three current alternative plans with lower income.

Claro and Entel do not plan to raise prices

In the last year, local operators have readjusted their rates. In the case of Movistar, it will be the third increase it has made. For its part, Entel He did the same last November. Meanwhile, Claro did not make any changes in its prices.

The Republic consulted the other two operators on whether they contemplate new rate increases. In this sense, Entel assured that it does not plan to make an adjustment to its packages.

“The decisions to raise rates are individual and Entel has not contemplated it”, he affirmed.
