Comptroller announces new contest of auditors to review financial statements of Petroperú

Through a statement, the Comptroller General announced that it is launching the new public tender for auditing companies to review Petroperú’s financial statements for 2021. He pointed out that On January 6, 2022, it authorized, at the request of the state company, the extension of the Financial Audit service contract with the auditing company Gaveglio, Aparicio y Asociados Civil Society of Limited Liability – Price Waterhouse Coopers. This subscription was under the responsibility of the state company and, according to the schedule, should have been finalized on February 22 last.

However, until March 1, 2022, the subscription was not made to which the Comptroller’s Office reminded the state company that the signing of the contract should be carried out in the appropriate terms, and in accordance with the conditions established in the bases of the public competition of merits, through official letter No. 01017-2022-CG/GAD .

The same on March 1, Petroperú, through its communication GCFI-0166-2022, requested the holding of a new public tender because the auditing company withdrew its proposal. Due to this, the Comptroller General has made public the new call for public tender on March 14.

The statement specifies that, “according to what was reported in various communications by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), the withdrawal of the proposal as an auditing company responds to the fact that Petroperú decided to make changes to the work schedule, confidentiality, among other conditions”.

Furthermore, it is explained that the reasons that prevented the timely signing of the contract do not correspond to the appointment of the auditing company that was duly authorized by the Comptroller, but to acts of the entity that led to exclusive disagreements between Petroperú and the auditing company, in relation to the conditions and terms of the service.

Finally, the Comptroller indicates that the legal or financial consequences caused by the timely non-signing of the contract, are the exclusive responsibility of Petroperúfor which they express their concern about the consequences that this situation has been generating with respect to a state-owned company that is in the interest of all Peruvians, and they call on the competent authorities to look at this situation with the utmost interest and avoid harming the country.
