In an interview on the show “Ganbara” from Radio EuskadiZubiaurre recalled that the escalation in energy prices began months ago, but he stressed that the invasion of Ukraine “is accelerating this process that is going to take us to a limit situation”.
“If the industry starts to stop, a chain effect is going to be generated, which is going to lead us to a very serious situation and, if urgent measures are not taken to stop the rise in the price of electricity and fuel, we could have another economic crisis this year,” he warned.
Refering to indefinite strike of autonomous carriersZubiaurre has recognized that it affects the activity of the companies, “since they find it difficult to carry out their production and distribution”.
Regarding the demand of the unions to increase wages based on the CPI and thus recover the purchasing power lost in recent years, the president of Confebask has stated that the companies “they cannot address wage increases” right now, “because they are going through difficulties to guarantee their viability”.
