The indefinite transport strike begins in Hegoalde, in protest against the price of fuel

The autonomous carriers grouped in the Hiru union and the Association of Carriers of Navarra, TRADISNA, support the call for an indefinite strike made by the Spanish Platform for the Defense of the Road Freight Transport Sector.

This past midnight the indefinite strike in the transport sector has begun, to which thousands of carriers from the Basque Autonomous Community and Navarra have joined. The Hiru carriers’ union and the Navarre Carriers Association TRADISNA have decided to support the call for an indefinite strike made by the Spanish Platform for the Defense of the Road Freight Transport Sector, in protest at the price of fuel.

The people on strike demand measures to achieve objectives in two senses; pressure, on the one hand, to the loader, to manage to raise and adapt the rates to current costs, and demand, on the other hand, measures to administrations -Government of Navarra and the Basque Government- to rescue the sector.

Many carriers insist that, in view of the fuel price, it is more profitable to have the trucks stopped and demand, among other things, to review the transport rates based on the fuel price.

In addition to the strike, the transport sector has announced demonstrations. On Tuesday they will hold protests in Pamplona and on Wednesday in Vitoria-Gasteiz, aimed at putting pressure on the administrations.

The strike is expected to have an impact on many sectors, such as industry, supermarkets and shops.
