The executive leader mentioned that heConvenience is what most appeals to the Peruvian consumer to buy online, added to the ease of doing so. However, he highlighted the time savings achieved when purchasing a product from a cell phone, laptop or tablet. Despite this, the specialist pointed out that it is important for brands to find new and better reasons to attract new users to their online stores.

“The consumer already knows that buying from home has benefits, but they are waiting for more benefits. For this reason, companies must innovate and add more tools to attract their target audience”, he said.

Among the reasons why consumers prefer an online store are the following: free deliveries in 51.1%, for coupons or discounts in 39.6%, recommendations from other buyers in 33.1%, simple policies for return a purchase by 31.8%, among others.

About the purchase preference by category in Peru, it is projected to remain the same as in 2021: furniture and appliances (24%), toys and hobbies (20%), fashion (19%), food and personal care (18%) and electronics and media (18%). ).

New trend: live streaming shopping

The research “The future of retail” by Euromonitor International projected a growth of 110% in the electronic commerce in Peru for the next five years. In turn, this growth could ensure that by 2025 e-commerce reaches a 10% share of the retail sales market in Peru.

According to the Blacksip executive, there are two aspects to take into account to know the future and trends in electronic commerce.

“The markets, trends and the level of maturation of the e-commerce in the country,” he noted.

It is worth mentioning that, according to Americas Market Intelligence (AMI), Peru is one of the countries in Latin America with the lowest penetration of mobile phone and internet use. According to the figures, 58.6% of online purchases were made through a mobile device, while 40% were carried out on desktop.

One of the main trends in consumption habits in Peru will be the increase in the use of mobile phones in e-commerce. The AMI establishes that for this year smartphone transactions will represent 73% of online purchases, while only 27% will be made through desktop computers.

One of the trends that has become important in recent months is the delivery of products on the same day and at no additional cost, mainly food and basic necessities.

That is why, according to Rojas from Blacksip, shortly, in the Peru Live streaming shopping will be common, that is, live broadcasts to sell a product. Some factors, such as the latent consequences of COVID-19, will position this medium as a great opportunity for e-commerce this year.
