From Saturday, March 12 at Petroecuador service stations, a gallon of super gasoline will cost $3.98. This was announced by the manager of the public company, Ítalo Cedeño, this Thursday, March 10, at an event north of Quito.
“(The value includes) the cost, plus the marketing margin, plus VAT, that gives us $3.98″, explained Cedeño and clarified that “it cannot be guaranteed that private companies will sell at the same price”, since super gasoline does not have a rate ceiling and that implies that the other marketers can establish different amounts.
There is already a third wave of consumer migration from super to extra in Ecuador, after a record increase in prices
“Obviously, if (private companies) sell at a very high price, no one will buy from them”, added the manager.
This fuel has no subsidy and its value varies depending on the fluctuation of the international price of WTI crude oil, which serves as a reference for Ecuador. The new rate set by Petroecuador will be in force until April 11 and represents an increase of $0.30 against the current value of $3.68.
The price of extra gasoline and ecopaís, as well as diesel will not undergo changes, since they have been frozen since October 2021. The gallon of extra and ecopaís costs $2.55 and diesel $1.90. (I)
