The superintendent of the SBS, Socorro Heysen, reported this morning the proposals of the Executive in financial matters, after requesting the Congress powers to legislate on the matter.
One of the measures sought is to improve the sanctioning capacity of the SBS, since the 1996 law “has become outdated in terms of the limits of fines that the entity has in relation to other regulatory bodies such as Indecopi, SMV and Susalud ”, he pointed out.
The official explained that currently the fines of the superintendency to regulated entities have a maximum limit of 200 UIT, an amount that is less than one million soles, which they consider very low.
Along these lines, they propose that the cap on fines be linked to the income of the supervised entity that receives the fine. “We would be eliminating the minimum because there would also be the problem that there are very small entities that are imposed the minimum of the fine that is excessive. And there are very large entities where the maximum of the fine may be little dissuasive, “he said.
