Facebook announces its name change and its shares rise by almost 4%

Facebook shares have increased by almost 4% since the company announced that it would be renamed Meta, this October 28.

The co-founder of the company, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed this decision that was announced during the annual developer conference which seeks to reflect the new approach of the company working on the construction of its metaverse.

It is planned invest 50 million dollars for two years in collaborative programs with other organizations and sectors in research for the development of a metaverse, the social media giant revealed last month.

Mark Zuckerberg explained that the metaverse is the new step of the internet. This will allow its users to gather within a virtual environment that goes beyond a screen. This interaction would enhance the virtual platform for the fact of generating a more real online interaction.

Using state-of-the-art smart helmets that simulate the augmented reality video games, the metaverse would generate a sense of presence with contacts. The company reported that more than 10,000 new jobs will be created throughout the European Union in order to speed up the process and anticipate the results of the metaverse.
