PetroTalthe operator of Lot 95, in Loreto, demanded that the government rehabilitate the fluvial traffic of the vessels that transport oil production, as well as those that contain food and provisions for the personnel in the Brittany North camp, after seven days of blockade by the Indigenous Association for the Development and Conservation of Bajo Puinahua (Aidecobap).
The civil organization initiated this measure of force demanding the attention of demands addressed to the State. Since then, PetroTal, the main crude producer in the country, has had to reduce its production.
“It is detrimental to the income generated by the hydrocarbon industry in the country and in the towns where it is carried out, such as Puinahua,” he said in a statement.
In February, the average production of Block 95 reached around 20,000 barrels per day. Today production is very restricted and will be negatively reflected in the royalties allocated to the canon for the Loreto region, and in the suspension of transfers to the Puinahua Social Fund, to which we allocate 2.5% of the value of our audited production. every fortnight, as long as the operation of the lot or the transportation of crude oil is not impacted by social conflicts.
“In 2021, according to our calculations, the social conflicts that affected the operation of Lot 95 and the transportation of its production, prevented the production of more than 500,000 barrels, which represented a negative impact of S/ 120 million,” the statement said. business.
For this year, PetroTal has programmed a budget of S/ 450 million for its investments in Peru, of which more than S/ 280 million will be allocated to the drilling and completion of four horizontal development wells in Block 95.
“Force measures such as the one led by Aidecobap, prevent the execution of investments and force to modify the work plans for 2022. In addition, it generates the loss of confidence of investors who want to bet on Peru at a time when it is necessary to revitalize the economy”, reported PetroTal.
The blockade also prevents the execution of the company’s social investment, which in 2021 amounted to S/ 7.8 million and, for this year, an investment of S/ 9 million is estimated for the benefit of Puinahua.
“PetroTal maintains its willingness to dialogue and calls on Aidecobap to withdraw the forceful measure that harms the population of Puinahua and our workers due to the lack of food and supplies. This situation is generating a hostile climate among the communities of the district that can lead to situations of violence that we must avoid,” the company concluded.
