Mendia believes that Euskadi “is heading to unknown heights in permanent contracts”

The Minister of Employment and Labor of the Basque Government, Idoia Mendia, has assured that in the face of “the political noise and the arguments about the uselessness” of the labor reform in Euskadi, the CAV is heading “to unknown heights in permanent contracts”.

“Never, since we assumed the transfer of active policies more than ten years ago, had a level of indefinite hiring of this range been reached,” Mendia added, stating that it is a rate five points higher than that of a month ago, “but almost twice as much as before the Government of Spain, in agreement with the social agents, agreed, among other things, to put an end to temporary employment with the new labor framework”.

“This is the value of the consensus that I wanted to talk about. Two years have passed since the historical and global slowdown in the economy. And compared to the forecasts of massive job destruction and a slow recovery, there are 1,424 fewer people unemployed and the affiliation is headed for record highs,” he said.
