The World Bank (WB) announced today, Tuesday, March 1, that prepares a package of financial assistance to Ukraine of US$ 3,000 million in the face of the Russian invasion, while warning of the “significant economic effects” of the conflict and the sanctions imposed on Moscow in other countries.
This was stated by the president of the World Bank, David Malpass, in a joint statement with the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva.
“We will start with a budget support operation of fast disbursement of at least US$350 million, to be submitted for Board approval this week, followed by $200 million in fast-disbursing support for health and education. This package will include the mobilization of funding from various development partners, and we welcome the already announced support from many bilateral partners,” Malpass noted.
