President Castillo on Camisea: “We are and will be respectful of business freedom”

President Pedro Castillo assured tonight that his government will respect business freedom during the Camisea gas nationalization process, regarding the questions against him after the false step he took in Amazonas, where he spoke of “nationalize” the resource.

Through his Twitter account, the head of state remarked that the gas recovery process for Peruvians will be adjusted to the unrestricted respect for the freedom of business.

In this sense, he recalled that both the construction of the southern gas pipeline and the massification of natural gas from Camisea at the national level, are priority slogans of his management.

“As the people’s government, we are and will be respectful of business freedom. The gas pipeline that will take gas to the south of the country is our priority, as well as its overcrowding for the benefit of all Peruvians. That is our commitment to the people and we will fulfill it, ”said Castillo Terrones.

From Bagua, yesterday President Pedro Castillo called Congress to work together on a law on the nationalization of Camisea gas so that it benefits all Peruvians. However, during his presentation, he spoke, for the first time, of “nationalize”The site.

This generated much criticism against him, especially because at that time Prime Minister Mirtha Vásquez was fighting for a vote of confidence with her new cabinet before the Congress of the Republic, where he came to replace Guido Bellido, separated from the Executive by controversial statements about Camisea.

The Gasoducto Sur Peruano (GSP) project was paralyzed in January 2017 when it was 35% complete. The consortium that led Odebrecht was unable to obtain the required financing.

The revelations about the corruption plot carried out by Brazilian companies, led by Odebrecht, stopped the involvement of the banks in this work.
