The National Telecommunications Program (Pronatel) informed that in the next few days the previous acts will begin for the contracting of the operation and maintenance service, on a temporary basis, of the National Fiber Optic Backbone Network (RDNFO).
The executive director of Pronatel, Daniel Lizárraga López, pointed out that, as part of the preliminary activities, the institution will carry out a new market investigation, which will allow consultations and contributions to the terms of reference and will be made public.
“We are working with our specialists and technicians, with the sole objective of benefiting more Peruvians and reducing the digital divide, always prioritizing plurality, free competition and transparency in each of the processes, in strict compliance with the law,” he said. Lizarraga.
Lizárraga stated that, more than a month after Pronatel has temporarily assumed the administration of the RDNFO, the service remains in constant operation, transmitting data at high speed and long distances.
“Pronatel has been providing diligent attention to the incidents that occurred during the operation of the RDNFO. However, in order to guarantee an agile and efficient management, it is opportune to have a temporary operator”, specified the executive director of Pronatel.
The entity attached to the MTC specified that the contracting of said service will allow the operation to continue uninterruptedly, “guaranteeing the maintenance of the existing infrastructure and the exploitation of said infrastructure in favor of the Peruvian people.”
“This will also guarantee the digital inclusion of citizens in rural and isolated areas of the country,” Lizárraga remarked.
The Dorsal Network is part of the interconnected system of national telecommunications infrastructure, which unites 22 regional capitals and 180 provincial capitals, and will also add the 7,360 rural communities that benefit from the 21 Pronatel broadband projects.
