In addition, it allowed more than 16,000 temporary jobs to become permanent in the Basque Country, of which a large majority corresponded to women.
The Labor Inspectorate opened in 2021 in the Basque Country 19 sanctioning files and 16 remediation requirements for fatal or very serious accidents, and 73 sanctioning files and 94 remediation requirements for serious accidents, according to the balance made public this Wednesday by the Department of Labor and Job.
In total, 898 infractions were detected, of which 396 were related to occupational health and safety, in 15,132 actions (9,058 in health and safety matters).
This was made known the vicelehendakari and Minister of Labor and Employment, Idoia Mendia, who has appeared to account for that balance together with the Deputy Minister of Labor, Elena Pérez Barredo, and the Deputy Director of Labor Inspection, Icíar González.
Mendia has highlighted that the inspection intervention throughout the year made it possible to convert a total of 16,494 contracts out of the 33,816 that were reviewed into indefinite contracts.
With these figures, the Vice-Lehendakari has reiterated her Department’s commitment to reinforcing this service, and has recalled that throughout this legislature the Inspectorate’s staff will be increased by ten more than the current ones, up to 54 inspectors, 42% more than those in existence 10 years ago assigned to this task.
In addition to fatal, very serious and serious accidents, the Inspectorate opened 126 sanctioning files and 112 remediation requirements for minor accidents during 2021.
The complete balance reflects that most of the people who have seen their contract transformed are women. In addition, the Inspection begins today a shock plan to tackle the accident rate, expressly aimed at companies in which more serious accidents have been detected.
