Through the Financing Program for Non-Timber Forest Productive Chains in Mother of Godthe Agroperu Fund granted the first credits to six chestnut dealers from the Association of Amazon Nut Collectors of Peru (RONAP) and three producers of the Three Islands Native Communityfor a total amount of 134 thousand soles.

The program, promoted by the National Forest and Wildlife Service (SERFOR) the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri)facilitates access to financing and for the first time is aimed at supporting small non-timber forest producers in this region, which includes peasant communities and native communities.

Disbursements are made through the Agricultural Bank (Agrobank) in Madre de Dios and it is expected to have a positive impact on the reactivation of the economy of this region, especially since it is an emblematic product. Through this financing, the beneficiaries have access to working capital to pay for their chestnut harvesting, processing and marketing activities.

It is expected that, throughout 2022 and 2023, the fund will allocate 13.4 million soles to benefit producers from four production chains in the region: chestnut, shiringa, aguaje and ungurahui.

Until the end of 2023, the AgroperĂș Fund will finance up to 30 thousand soles with an annual interest rate of 3.5%, to non-timber forest producers who are part of an association.
