According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (mincetur), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), an agency of the United Nations, recognized the sectoral brands of Peru, which constitute a powerful distinctive sign and an appreciation of the work of Peruvian men and women.
These are the sector brands Cafés del Perú, Cafés del Perú Unique Specialties, Alpaca del Perú, Perú Textiles, Perú Xpert, Super Foods Peru and Pisco, Spirit of Peru.
“The Peru Brand has been in force for 10 years and in this time it has allowed to unite, around its identity, a valuable legacy that summarizes the richness of its ancient history and a present full of enthusiasm and progress that the world recognizes and values as a powerful distinctive sign,” said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sánchez, in a press release.
“This legal recognition in the world of sectoral brands represents the appreciation of Peruvian products, the work of men and women who, from Peruvian companies and the State, strive to provide products of unique quality that the global user can identify as their own ( of Peru),” he added.
For her part, Amora Carbajal, executive president of Promperú, the entity in charge of safeguarding the Country Brand and sectoral brands, stated that “this global step of incorporating Peruvian sectoral brands into the WIPO legal registry will allow for adequate protection against eventual unauthorized use by third parties.
