Congress proposes mandatory environmental insurance for companies that exploit hydrocarbons

After Repsol spilled more than 11,000 barrels of oil on the coast, Congress has proposed a series of initiatives to toughen sanctions against companies that commit accidents that affect the environment.

This time, Congressman Segundo Quiroz Barbosa of Peru Libre presented a bill that promotes the mandatory acquisition of environmental insurance companies dedicated to the exploitation, transportation, import and export of minerals and hydrocarbons.

The purpose of the initiative is that natural or legal persons engaged in these activities, both in the public and private sectors, mandatory avoidance of environmental pollution.

Also, look for guarantee compensation to society and the state for the damage caused in the event of contamination, whether accidental, intentional, guilty, negligent, irresponsible and in other ways, through the acquisition of environmental insurance.
