Ositrán: Users filed more than 6,000 claims on Line 1 of the Lima Metro in 2021

In 2021, 8,366 first-instance claims were registered in concession infrastructures such as highways, airports, ports and railways. The figure meant an increase of 16.4% compared to 2020, revealed the Supervisory Body for Investment in Transportation Infrastructure for Public Use (Ositrán).

According to the supervisory body, the largest number of reports the previous year were presented in the Line 1 of the Lima Metro with a total of 6,703 cases; that is, 16% more than in the previous year.

The second place was occupied by the airport concessionaires where they were registered 595 claims, 35.5% more than in the previous year. In detail, at the airport Jorge Chavez 354 cases were registered Y 241 in the group of provincial airports.

Lastly, the highway concessionaires received 569 claimswhich is equivalent to an increase of 21.8% compared to 2020. In contrast, those of ports registered a decrease of 0.6%, which reduced claims from 502 in 2020 to 499 in 2021.

How to file a claim with Ositran?

If a user has any disagreement with the services provided by a concession company in any of the public transport infrastructures (ITUP) supervised by Ositrán, they can file their claim with the concession company (first administrative instance)

The agency indicates that, depending on the complexity of the case, the company has a maximum period of up to 30 business days to resolve the claim.

“If the user is not satisfied with what has been resolved, they can go to the Ositrán Court through an appeal to resolve in the second and last instance,” he mentions.
