Betty Sotelo Bazán appointed as Vice Minister of Finance of the MEF

The Executive Branch, through Supreme Resolution No. 003-2022-EF published today in the official newspaper El Peruano, appointed Betty Arminda Sotelo Bazán as the new Deputy Minister of Finance of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The official will replace Gustavo Guerra García, whose resignation was made official on February 10.

The new head of the Vice Ministry of Finance is an economist from the Federico Villarreal National University and has a master’s degree in public management from the Universidad del Pacífico.

Sotelo Bazán has 40 years of experience in the public sector, specifically in the MEF, and this is the third time that he has assumed the Vice Ministry of Finance, his first administration was between 2018 and 2019 and the second between December 2020 and July 2021 .

Before being appointed today as Vice Minister of Finance, Sotelo had been serving as General Director of the General Directorate of Public Treasury of the MEF. She has previously been general director of the General Office of Investments and Projects of the MEF.
