The former Minister of Energy and Mines, Eduardo Gonzalez Toromaintained that the main merit of his outgoing management is never having carried out repressive actions against communities in the interior of the country, despite having faced various mining strikes such as the one in Las Bambas and the southern province of Ayacucho.
Approached by the press, the former head of the Minem also stressed that the previous cabinet did not establish any type of state of emergency to rehabilitate blocked roads or force dialogue with community leaders.
“We made a transparent management, our ministry has been one without corruption. We delivered a portfolio having worked without putting repression against the communities and, the main thing, we did not put a state of emergency at any time, ”he stressed.
Likewise, he referred to the complaint of the former deputy minister of Mines, Jorge Chávez Cresta, who resigned the day before due to alleged low-quality appointments in the Minem, and said that these changes are in line with the policy of any new minister.
“You have to work according to reality, and the reality is that a new minister, new authorities. Confidence charges are like that. I hope they work well and for the good of the country. That they be transparent and zero corruption,” said González Toro.
As it is recalled, Chávez Cresta, who also temporarily assumed the title of the Vice Ministry of Hydrocarbons (so now only Electricity is headed) denounced that the Minem requires technical and specialized officials and policies, conditions that have not been respected with the recent appointments, which would respond “to a partisan slogan and not to merits or professional experience.” Given this, he resigned.
