The electricity will cost 225.36 euros / MWh this Monday, on the twelfth consecutive day above 200 euros

Spanish President Pedro Sánchez has announced that the Government will approve a decree on Tuesday that will include an additional 100 million to help 1.2 million vulnerable households this winter.

The average daily price of electricity in the wholesale market does not give up and will reach this Monday the 225.36 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), according to the data of the designated electricity market operator (OMIE).

It will be the twelfth consecutive day above 200 euros. However, it will drop by 2 euros compared to the price set on Monday of last week (227.45 euros / MWh).

The highest price this monday will be given between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., when will it reach the 262 euros / MWhwhile the lowest will be recorded between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., when will it trade at 200.91 euros / MWh.

The high price of electricity is already being transferred to other industrial products, even causing the reduced activity by some companies, as well as price rises in commodities like bread.

Sánchez announces that the Government will approve an additional 100 million to help vulnerable households in winter

The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, for his part, has announced that the Council of Ministers will approve this Tuesday, October 26, a Royal decree law which will include An additional € 100 million for help, faced with the increase in the price of electricity, 1.2 million vulnerable households that exist in the State before the arrival of winter.

Sanchez has stated that “the way in which electricity prices are formed at the European level is not working,” so he has advocated “reviewing that framework and that directive at the community level.”

In addition, the Spanish president has defended that European countries negotiate “together” with gas-producing countries, just like the vaccines against covid-19 were made: “Together we are stronger, we weigh more being 400 million people behind the European Commission to negotiate, instead of 47 million” which has Spain.

However, he regretted that in Europe “things are slower than I would like”, but he has been convinced that it will be achieved “at a European level there is an approach to a community response to the energy crisis and rising prices.
