EP Petroecuador announced that it has started a new drilling campaign in the Coca Payamino field, located in Block 7, Orellana province. Within this campaign, the drilling of seven development wells, three reentry from the Coca K platform Y four new wells from Payamino G.
The general manager of Petroecuador, Italo Cedeno, indicated that “The first well within this campaign is COCK-021R1, which began drilling today from the COCA K platform. This main objective is to cross the soot deposit top and reach a total depth of 10,831 feet (MD). It is estimated that this well has a production of 460 barrels of oil per daywith an accumulated estimate of 350,000 barrels,” he said.
The COCK-021R1 well will be drilled with Sinopec-127 drill in an estimated time of fourteen days for drilling and ten days for completion. The development of this field is by EP Petroecuador.
Cedeño added that the start of this campaign is part of EP Petroecuador’s plans for the increase in production defined for this year. For the development of these seven wells, a $34 million investment. “We are prioritizing the company’s resources very well, to extract oil from the most profitable fields, with efficiency and transparency,” he said.
The goal set by EP Petroecuador according to the 2022 annual budget is to reach 425,000 barrels per day, with the drilling campaigns in Sacha, Coca-Payamino, Auca and ITT. These days, Petroecuador’s production has been in the order of 368,000 barrels per day.
Cedeño announced a few days ago that the drilling campaign at the ITT will be carried out on platforms A and B, which are not in the Yasuní buffer zone.
EP Petroecuador is the largest public company in the country, it is in charge of the five axes of the value chain of the hydrocarbon industry and owns about 80% of the national production of crude.
