Transfer approved to reactivate the economy of artisanal fishermen

A series of resource transfers for more than five million soles was approved by the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, with the aim of continuing to provide financial support to the fishing sector artisanal and thereby mitigate the negative effects generated by COVID-19.

According to the regulations published today in the official newspaper El Peruano, five million soles will be channeled to the National Fund for Fisheries Development (Fondepes) to finance the granting of loans and 223,469 soles for operating expenses generated by them.

It should be remembered that the loans granted by Fondepes are aimed at the workers of the artisanal fishing, that do not have financing opportunities, through the provision of goods and services that allow refloating, equipping and modernizing their productive activities.

With this, the country’s fishermen can increase their income and improve the living conditions of both themselves and their families.

The emergency decree establishes that budgetary modifications be made within the Fondepes for 2 000 000. Parallel to this, the Ministry of Production is authorized a transfer to Fondepes for 3,000,000 soles.

“Fondepes is responsible for the proper implementation of this emergency decree, as well as the use and destination of the assigned resources, in accordance with current regulations,” the document ends.
