Sorbetto ventures into vegan flavors and opened a new location in the midst of the pandemic

Aldo Faidutti, advisor to Sorbetto, He commented that the alliance with Nature’s Heart began a year ago when the founder of the brand, David Bermeo, contacted him to develop a vegan ice cream made with the products that Nature’s Heart markets, such as almond milk, nuts, among others.

“I told them yes and a few days later I developed the formula for them, they tried it and they were fascinated,” recalled Faidutti, who pointed out that a negotiation followed due to price issues and above all due to the political and economic uncertainty that existed due to the issue of the elections and the pandemic.

“It was a difficult and risky decision on our part (Sorbetto) because we had to set a competitive price for them and the consumer, since due to logistics, raw materials and now salaries have risen,” explained Faidutti, who maintained that is proud to be producers for one of the food brands that has grown the most in the country in recent years and that has been part of the Nestlé Group since 2018, when the conglomerate announced the purchase of the majority stake in the company.

Belén Gómez de la Torre, Marketing Manager of Nature’s Heartrecalled that the company was founded 15 years ago (2005) and they are present in the healthy food categories with infusion teas, condiments, among other products, but it is the first time they have ventured into the ice cream category.

“It is an extremely interesting proposal for the consumer since we maintain all the characteristics of a normal ice cream, but it is lactose free,” explained the director, who mentioned that for this new product Nature’s Heart was looking for a company that is an expert in the preparation of ice creams and that is how the alliance with Sorbetto was finalized.

“They have a lot of knowledge about the category and especially about the preparation of this type of product,” said Gómez de la Torre, who assured that they will be in all supermarket chains nationwide.

It is not the first time that Sorbetto has made alliances to produce ice creams for other brands, since for four years it has had one with Rosanna Quirolo with the sanna ice cream that are 0% fat, 0% sugar, 0% lactose, 0% gluten, and high in dairy protein and prebiotic fiber.

Sorbetto began in 2004 with an ice cream parlor located in Urdesa, with ten flavors of ice cream. The following year two more ice cream parlors were opened, in Garzocentro 2000 and on Av. Samborondón, in the La Torre shopping center; and in 2008 the brand’s first franchise was sold, located in the Puerto Azul urbanization, on the road to the coast. (I)
