Pension 65 will enroll 45,000 new users from all over the country in 2022

The Pension 65 National Solidarity Assistance Program will enroll 45,000 new older adult users in 2022, according to information provided by the program’s executive director, Mabel Gálvez Gálvez.

“This year Pension 65 will increase its coverage significantly after four or five years. Already last December, more than 13,000 older adults from the Amazon were incorporated into the program after waiting three years for their affiliation”, detailed the official during her participation in the III Meeting of Productive Knowledge of the Kunturkanki district, in the province of Canas, Cuzco region.

Recognize work of older adults

The III Meeting of Productive Knowledge of Kunturkanki brought together more than 180 users of the program to show traditional practices in natural medicine, gastronomy, weaving, crafts, agricultural production, dance and oral traditions. They also presented productive enterprises.

The executive director of pension 65 visited the stands where 40 older adults showed themselves as carriers of ancestral knowledge, cultural assets that promote the social and economic development of the district.

Productive Knowledge is an intervention executed by Pension 65 in coordination with local governments. The program provides technical assistance to municipalities to concentrate, identify, document and organize the knowledge of older adults, so that it can be transferred to new generations, mainly through schools.

In 2021, the Saberes Productivos de Pension 65 intervention was reactivated by 466 municipalities and more than 13 thousand users of the program participated in it. In addition, 4,167 users developed productive enterprises and received technical assistance from Saberes Productivos, thereby improving their quality of life.

Gálvez highlighted that Pension 65 works in coordination with the Ministry of Culture to strengthen the capacities of the technical assistants of Saberes Productivos to identify and preserve intangible heritage, and recognize older adults who are its exponents.
