The party leadership had decided that its two deputies would support the labor reform in exchange for the PSN not failing the mayor of Pamplona, Enrique Maya, but García Adanero and Sayas have finally voted against it.
The two UPN deputies, Sergio Sayas and Carlos García Adanero, have voted against the labor reform decree and have skipped the discipline of their party’s leadership, which had agreed to support said norm. The leadership of Unión del Pueblo Navarro has asked García Adanero and Sayas to deliver their minutes “immediately”.
Both have pressed the no button, as they have confirmed on social networks, although the reform has finally been validated by 175 votes in favor and 174 against, thanks to a PP deputy, who has been confused and has voted for favor.
“Sergio Sayas and Carlos García Adanero have made the decision against the decision of the party’s bodies”, they have pointed out from the regionalist leadership, which has added in a statement that “it has also been taken deceiving us, as it shows that they have previously publicly stated that they were going to accept the voting discipline and then not do so”.
“They have made the decision against the decision of the party organs”
They also acknowledge that they have been able to confirm that the two deputies “yes, they have warned other political formations of the final meaning of their vote, who have been aware of it, while the UPN management was unaware of this extreme”.
From the regionalist formation it has also been requested apologies to the PSOE and the PSN: “What has happened today does not represent UPN, a party of words, values and principles, which fulfills its agreements. Among those values and principles is not not keeping the word given”.
Finally, UPN states that “disloyalty to voters, members and party bodies is absolute and unacceptable.”
Hours before, the mayor of Pamplona and vice president of UPN, Enrique Maya, had warned that the vote against the two deputies “would have consequences.”
Sayas has already announced that he is not going to deliver his certificate
Sayas, who lost the internal elections for the UPN leadership with Esparza, has already announced that he is not going to deliver his act because he can defend his position before the voters. “Let’s see if Esparza can — he has challenged –, and if he wants, let him hold a referendum.”
“We have not breached the mandate of the Executive Committee,” Sayas wanted to make clear, emphasizing that the party leadership did not inform them of the agreement reached and that, therefore, they would do what they had already planned to do this Wednesday, which is to vote against of the decree.
The Navarrese regionalist has also stressed that neither of the two has spoken with the president of UPN to communicate his position, in the same way that Esparza, as he has pointed out, had not called them either. “He didn’t call us, and we didn’t call him either,” he said.
