Central government and partners guarantee “stability” despite colliding in the labor reform

Spanish government sources have stressed that the “progressive majority” continues and laws will continue to be approved in the future, so the vote on the labor reform will not affect it.

The Government of Pedro Sánchez and some of its main partners agree that the disagreement over the labor reform, which ERC, EH Bildu or the PNV have not voted for, does not mean a shift in the legislature nor does it put the stability of the Executive at riskwhich despite now agreeing with Ciudadanos will continue to negotiate with its traditional allies.

Sources from the Spanish Government have stressed that the “progressive majority” continues and laws will continue to be approved in the future, so the vote on the labor reform it will not affect, and they also appreciate the support of the Inés Arrimadas party.

Neither in the socialist wing of the Government, nor in that of United We Can, do they see the legislature in danger at this time, after working, they say, in a coordinated manner to achieve the validation of the royal decree law.

In statements to journalists, both the PSOE spokesman in Congress, Héctor Gómez, and the deputy general secretary of this party, Adriana Lastra, have assured that, as up to now, will continue to talk with the groups to seek agreementssince they are aware of the correlation of forces.

“We have two years left to transform this country and we are going to do it with our usual partners”, stressed Lastra, who admits that this sum has not been possible on this occasion, but emphasizes that “difficulties are always overcome” and the Relationship with partners is good.

They also deny that the disagreement with the Executive supposes a turning point in the ranks of ERC or in those of EH Bildu, who have indicated that if the investiture block breaks in this vote, the next step is to work to remake it so that the legislature continue from the left.

The Catalan Republicans also believe that it is the Government that is “represented” and that if the sum set in the Congress of Deputies may have a cost for someone, it is for the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz.

Joan Baldoví, deputy for Compromís, who votes in favor, lamented that the reform was not approved by the majority of the investiture, which would have sent “a message of strength”, but does not augur ruptures that endanger stability because ” people are responsible” and they are facing a window of opportunity that they must take advantage of.

Citizens, who on this occasion have aligned themselves with the Executive, do not expect changes in the strategy, but rather continuity. In the orange group they emphasize that their position has not changed and that they support those norms that they consider beneficial for the general interest; their talks with the government have been limited to labor reform and have not dealt with the future, they say.
