Gasnorp: “Piura could be left without public natural gas service”

Gases of Northern Peru SAC (Gasnorp) appealed the sentence issued by the Permanent Civil Court of Talara, which declares that the claims of the Gastalsa company, a company whose concession contract was declared expired, having been proven to have failed to comply with its obligations for more than a decade, were partially founded.

According to Gasnorp, Judge José Efraín Villegas Carrasco, who has an investigation by the OCMA for this same case, ignored the legal arguments by the company and the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), which defend “the legitimate right of the Piura region for having the essential public service of natural gas”.

“We call on the authorities of the Judiciary -especially the Judicial Control Office- as well as public opinion, to be attentive to the development of the aforementioned judicial process, so that the judges under investigation do not intend to affect improperly providing the essential public service of natural gas that benefits the families of Talara and the region,” the company said in a statement.

Gasnorp reported that it will continue with the mass distribution of natural gas for the Piura region, where it has invested more than US$100 million, which has allowed it to move forward with distribution and benefit 16,000 people who have this public service in Piura, Talara and Sullana. and, soon, in Paita and Sechura.

Likewise, he assured that there is a “threat from the Gastalsa company”, whose precautionary measure could generate the paralysis of all the massification of natural gas in the Piura region.

“Denying the possibility of having the public service to more than 64,000 families, who could not access cheap, safe and clean fuel for their homes,” he stressed.
