Through a statement on its social networks, the Credit Bank of Peru (BCP) informed its users that this Tuesday it had a new fall in its mobile banking operations, due to the fact that it is presenting intermittence in its system. Likewise, the banking entity asked for the understanding of the case and advised to carry out its operations through the agents BCP and Yape.
“We are presenting intermittence with BCP Mobile Banking. Our team is working to fix it.”
It should be noted that, on Monday, the company reported that BCP’s digital channels (Mobile Banking, Yape, Internet Banking and Telecredit) had difficulties operating, and were open until 7 pm nationwide.
However, customers have expressed their annoyance with the lack of a virtual system through social networks, after the company shared the first failure statement on its Facebook and Twitter.
What is the cause of the BCP system saturation?
Consulted for this article, Erick Iriarte, coordinator of the Goal on the Regulatory Framework for the Information Society of the eLAC Plan, explains the possible causes of the fall of the Banco de Credito del Peru network. “In principle, it is not yet known what the main reason for the problems that occurred with the BCP, but there are several factors that could fit with the incidents.”
one. The software has had an overload of users: this happens for a reason of infrastructure capacity, that is, they had capacity for 100 people and now there are 200 users who use it.
two. BCP tools and mobile devices: the software update of the bank’s applications is updated frequently; in some cases, the new version is not compatible with some mobile devices due to features that do not fit with the new format. This causes the user access denied to the app.
3. Temporary growths: every end of the month, a banking app will usually have operations more frequently, which causes saturation to the network.
Does the drop in BCP web operations directly affect the Peruvian economy?
“The user community transfers confidence that it will always be operational, however, like any information system, it will not be working all the time, as a result of problems that can happen at the moment. Due to this perspective, unless there is a direct responsibility of the BPC, there is no total impact on the ecosystem as a whole, since all users are not affected at the same time,” Iriarte told La República.
