The sale of new vehicles fell by 19% in January in the Basque Country with only 1,396 registrations

The sale of new passenger cars and SUVs has started the year with negative figures in the Basque Country since only 1,396 vehicles were registered in January, which represents a decrease of 19% compared to the same month of 2021.

Since then, the drop in sales has been uninterrupted, which led the sector to close the 2021 financial year with a drop of 18.3%.

This 2022 has not started better since the decrease in registrations has reached 19% in January. cars with motor diesel they have been the ones that have fallen the most, since barely 149 units have been sold, that is, 58.1% less than in the same month last year.

Sales of passenger cars and SUVs have also fallen gasolinewith 632 registrations and a decrease of 30.3%, according to data from the employers’ associations of Anfac manufacturers, Ganvam sellers and Faconauto dealers.

On the opposite side, vehicles with motors electric, hybrid and that use other fuels such as hydrogen and the gas they rose considerably (+33.4%) when 615 sales operations were recorded.

The poor figures for the Basque Country contrast with the rise in sales (+1%) in the whole of the Spanish state, where 42,377 units were sold in January. In any case, this number of new registrations is the second worst since May 2020 after exceeding the lowest sales data, from January 2021, by just 400 operations.
