The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) announced that the Government will allocate S/ 245 million for the strengthening of users’ boards at the national level.
“For the government of President Pedro Castillo, attention to agriculture is a priority and we are aware of that. For this reason, we are going to allocate S/ 245 million to strengthen user groups, which are the main administrators of a vital resource such as water and hydric resources,” said Minister Víctor Maita Frisancho.
He added that no later than next week, the National Council for Agrarian and Rural Development will be installed, which will be chaired by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and will also be made up of various ministries, agrarian associations, regional and local authorities.
He indicated that from the installation of this National Council, the technical secretariat will be in charge of Midagri, through the Vice Ministerial Office of Policies and Supervision of Agrarian Development, which will provide the necessary technical and administrative support for the fulfillment of its functions.
Likewise, the minister specified that the boards will be able to participate in the National Council together with other organizations and agrarian unions to work jointly with the Government for the allocation of resources, which will be destined to the executing nuclei, the purchase of agricultural machinery and other actions in direct support of small rural producers.
