The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa postpones the TicketBai electronic invoice system until July 2022

As of January 1, it will be voluntary and not mandatory as in the beginning. The new electronic invoicing system will be mandatory in Álava from July 1, 2022 and from January 1, 2024 in Bizkaia.

The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has postponed six months, until July 1, 2022, the implementation of TicketBai, the new electronic invoicing system. The Provincial Council will also offer tax deductions to those people who decide to start using this system before the mandatory period. As of January 1, it will be voluntary and not mandatory as in the beginning.

TicketBai it’s a project shared between the three councils and the Basque Government. With its entry into force, all natural and legal persons that carry out an economic activity must use billing software that meets the technical requirements established. Its objective is to control the income from the economic activities of taxpayers, especially in sectors in which collections are made, to a large extent, in cash.

The Gipuzkoa Treasury Department finalizes a new Regional Order regarding the TicketBai tax obligation that will be presented and approved shortly.

The new electronic invoicing system will be mandatory in Álava since July 1, 2022. In Bizkaia the system called Batuz will be mandatory for as of January 1, 2024. The new billing system will affect some 200,000 professionals in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV).
