Ovechkin climbs the rankings for the number of points scored in NHL history

Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin scored two assists in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season match against the New Jersey Devils. The correspondent of “Lenta.ru” informs about it.

The meeting took place on the night of October 22 and ended with the victory of the capital club with a score of 4: 1. Ovechkin now has 1,328 (734 + 594) points in 1201 career league appearances. Thus, the Russian took 32nd place in the history of the NHL for this indicator. He beat Canadians Gilbert Perrault, who has 1326 points, and Pierre Tarjon (1327).

On October 20, the Washington Capitals beat the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 in the NHL regular season. The Capitals’ victory was secured by Ovechkin’s goal and a double by another Russian striker Yevgeny Kuznetsov. Another Russian from Washington, Dmitry Orlov, gave two assists.

Ovechkin has been playing for the Capitals since 2005. In 2018, the hockey player, together with the team, won the Stanley Cup. He has also won the Maurice Richard Trophy for the best sniper in the NHL regular season eight times.
