Petroperú announces a reduction of 0.23 soles per gallon of diesel from this Friday

The company Petroleos del Peru – Petroperú SA reported that, starting tomorrow, Friday October 22, it will reduce the list price of Diesel by 0.23 soles per gallon, in order to have the cheapest list price in the market and avoid “greater impacts on the economy of sectors sensitive to the price of this fuel ”.

Through a statement, the state oil company clarified that, despite the decision, international prices have had a strong increase due to the speed of demand growth that exceeds the increase in world production in recent weeks.

These increases translate into upward variations in local fuel prices, despite the reduction in the exchange rate.

“Petroperú reports that the increases in fuel prices in the local market in recent months are explained by a sustained increase in international prices since November 2020, due to the economic recovery of industrialized countries for obtaining effective vaccines against the Coronavirus and the lower oil production by OPEC + ”, remarked the company.

In addition, the oil company informs that, from the end of March to August 2021, through supreme decrees issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, vehicular diesel was incorporated into the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC).

In this way, Petroperú’s list price for said product took into account the compensation and contribution factors derived from this mechanism, as well as the updating of the price band, “the same one that had increases, given the sustained increase in international price and exchange rate ”.

Indefinite stoppage of carriers since November 8

The National Guild of Transporters and Drivers Arequipa (GNTC) ratified this Friday, October 15, the start of an indefinite strike due to the rise in the price of fuel. The measure will be complied with at the national level as of November 8.

From Lima, representatives of other unions arrived in Arequipa this Friday to support this strike. Geovani Diez Villegas, president of the Union of Multimodal Transport Guilds of Peru (UGTRANM), reported that at the national level there are 325 unions that confirmed their participation. These groups belong to transporters of heavy cargo, logistics, urban, interprovincial, tourist, buses, taxis, motorcycle taxis, among others.

The leader added that if before starting the strike, the Central Government manages to resolve at least 70% of their requests, they will evaluate a possible suspension of the measure. His orders are seven. The first and most important is the reduction to S / 11 the price per gallon of diesel, gas and NGV, LPG gases.
