The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Midagri) reported that it built a total of 150 fitotoldos in six districts of the provinces of La Concepción, Jauja, Junín and Yaulí through the Agro Rural executing unit.
The facilities are part of the second agrarian reform and are intended to give farmers family producers spaces with a suitable climate so that they favor the production of their crops in the high Andean areas.
“With this intervention we are benefiting more than 150 peasant families, who will produce satisfactorily within these phytosols, located in high Andean areas greater than 3,000 meters above sea level, crops such as vegetables, aromatic herbs, fruit trees, among others,” said Rogelio Huamani Carbajal, executive director of Agro Rural.
The official added that “this will avoid production losses that normally occurred because crops were vulnerable to low temperatures.”
Likewise, Huamani Carbajal stressed that the constructions will allow the members of the beneficiary communities to no longer suffer from malnutrition.
Finally, he explained that, of the 150 structures delivered, 60 belong to the district of Comas (in the province of La Concepción), 20 to the district of Curicaca (Jauja) and 10 to Masma Chicche (Jauja), as well as 20 to San Juan de Ondores (Junín), 20 to the district of Chacapalpa (Yauli) and 20 to Santa Bárbara de Carhuacayán (Yauli).
