Robert Sanchez, head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (mincetur), pointed out that in the next 48 hours The Government will make a firm decision regarding the situation of the Repsol company in the country.
The official warned, during an interview with RPP, that the multinational failed to comply with the work plan to which it committed itself and adds to the fact that it admitted, this last Friday, January 28, that 10,396 barrels of oil were spilled in the sea of Ventanilla and not 6,000, as initially reported.
“I am convinced that in the next 48 hours a decision will have been made in the team of ministers decided by the PCM (crisis committee). On Monday and Tuesday this will already have its unleashing with firm decisions”, he assured.
However, Sánchez mentioned that to make a determination, he will have to know the report of the United Nations group of experts that is in the country to assist the Government in dealing with the ecological disaster.
Likewise, he welcomed the decision of the Judiciary, an entity that approved the tax requirement to prevent leaving the country for 18 months for four senior managers of the La Pampilla refinery, including the general manager, Jaime Fernandez-Cuesta Luca de Tena.
Finally, Roberto Sánchez has also criticized Repsol for having launched an international campaign to blame the spill on abnormal waves caused by the eruption of the Tonga volcano, a version that was denied by the captain of the oil tanker that unloaded the hydrocarbon in Ventanilla.
