Online currency exchange increased 47% in 2021

The participation of Peruvians in buying and selling dollars online increased by approximately 47% more than in 2020, according to the online exchange platform Rextie.

Likewise, they reported that the segment of Millennial women showed a considerable growth of 75% compared to 2020, while men of the same generation grew only 31%.

According to the top 5 of the provinces with the highest volume and amount of dollars exchanged: it is led by Puno, followed by Cusco, Arequipa, La Libertad and Callao. While ranking 5 in the districts of Metropolitan Lima is headed by: San Borja, followed by La Molina, Santiago de Surco, Miraflores and San Isidro.

It should be noted that, in terms of the amounts transacted in the peripheries of the northern zone of Peru, some districts of northern Lima have doubled or even tripled their operations, such as: Ancón (345%), Puente Piedra (299%), Independencia (206 %), Carabayllo (157%) and finally Comas (128%).

In addition, they indicated that there is a slight variation in the amount transacted by companies that represented 70% in 2020 and 60% in 2021 of the total business, while the amount transacted by people varied from 30% to 40%.

Rextie also points out that the most used platforms to carry out exchange transactions are through the web (40%) and through the mobile application (60%).
