Drilling campaign begins in Campo Sacha to obtain 3,000 more barrels until December

The contractor company in charge of this activity is the Chinese company Sinopec, informed the authorities of the branch.

Yesterday, October 20, EP Petroecuador together with the Chinese contractor company Sinopec International Petroleum Service Ecuador SA began drilling the Sacha 392 well, on the Sacha 390 platform, in the field of the same name, located in the province of Orellana. The goal is to obtain an additional 3,000 barrels per day by the end of year in four new wells and by 2022 increase production by 20,000 barrels, through 25 wells.

The actions are part of the Specific Integrated Services Contract signed between the two companies on September 10.

The Government seeks to increase production oil company to 526,000 barrels until the end of the year and one million barrels until the end of its period. In any case, these days production is still low due to certain electrical failures that have occurred.

The Minister of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources, Juan Carlos Bermeo, He said: “For this 2021 the drilling of four wells is contemplated, through two holes. We are working together with EP Petroecuador and the private operators to achieve the objective of progressively increasing the country’s oil production and complying with the provisions of the President of the Republic ”.

Drilling campaigns are already underway this year in the Auca, Yuralpa, Coca-Payamino fields and next year we will have Ishpingo production in Block 43-ITT ”, he explained.

For his part, General Manager (s) of EP Petroecuador, Pablo Luna, reported that this first well, which would enter production in November of this year, is a modified J-type directional well, and will incorporate approximately 500 barrels of oil per day. “It seeks to incorporate possible and probable reserves to the Ecuadorian oil production from the Hollin, Napo U, Napo T and Basal Tena reservoirs, increasing approximately 3,000 barrels in a first phase until the end of this year.”

It is estimated that drilling activities of the Sacha 392 well last 23 days until it goes into production. It should be noted that the four wells to be drilled in 2021 will be developed in a directional manner from the same platform, in order to reduce surface space and, above all, minimize environmental impact.

Currently, the Sacha field produces more than 65,000 barrels of oil per day and the remaining reserves of this field are 367.8 million barrels.
