SPH asks for more time to review the final report on the mass use of gas

The Peruvian Hydrocarbons Society (SPH) He requested a period of 30 days to review the final report of the Multisectoral Commission for the Massification of Natural Gas, presented last Friday night, January 21. The term granted to other organizations to send their comments and suggestions was until yesterday, Tuesday the 25th, that is, less than one business day.

“We regret that the business and academic sectors, professional associations, specialists and other civil society organizations with the right to be consulted have not been summoned to participate in the preparation of the report of the Multisectoral Commission for the Massification of Natural Gas that It has just been published,” the organization said.

For the SPH, the time granted is not reasonable considering that there are more than 270 pages and that it also refers to three other documents that are not public. One of them is the Pre-investment study for the SIT Gas Project, prepared by the consulting firm Mott MacDonald Limited.

“We request that these documents be published. As a union in the hydrocarbons sector, we have requested the President of the Council of Ministers that, in compliance with the TUO of Law 27444, Law of General Administrative Procedure, in its article 147, we be granted a period of 30 days, a reasonable time to carry out the analysis and formulate an informed opinion”, he submitted.

Likewise, it considered that in said period a public and transparent debate should be “promoted” that includes all the relevant actors in the natural gas sector, in order to “enrich the content of the proposal and promote joint work.”

It should be noted that the Government created, through Supreme Resolution 108-2021-PCM, that group to prepare proposals to expand natural gas reserves, strengthen the hydrocarbon industry and promote the mass use of natural gas.

Said group is chaired by the president of the Council of Ministers, Mirtha Vásquez, in addition to the ministers of the portfolios of Energy and Mines, Economy and Finance, Foreign Trade and Tourism, Justice and Human Rights, Foreign Relations, the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons and the president of Perupetro.
