The Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) reported that it made a donation of US$250,000 to the Peruvian Government to attend to the emergency caused by the spill of 6,000 barrels of oil in the Ventanilla Sea, which affects a vast territory of the Peruvian coast, beaches and protected natural areas, as well as numerous families from fishermen crafts from the area.

Through a letter to the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, the head of CAF, Sergio Diaz-Granados, expressed his appreciation for the actions carried out by the Government to support the affected population and informed him that the “CAF will make a donation of US$250,000 to contribute to emergency humanitarian aid effortsthrough the corresponding government channel.

Additionally, Díaz-Granados informed the Head of State of CAF’s will and willingness to immediately consider a request for financing, if required, to deal with the emergency and mitigate its effects.

“CAF’s commitment to the well-being of Peruvians was also recently reflected in a donation of US$250,000 to help mitigate the devastating effects of the earthquake that occurred in the Amazonas area, which has caused considerable material damage in this region of the country,” the institution added in a statement.
