Majes Siguas II: Cobra company will meet with regional councilors from Arequipa

Representatives of the Cobra company, in charge of the execution of the Majes Siguas II project, will hold a meeting with the regional councilors of Arequipa on Monday, January 24.

The president of the regional legislature, José Luis Hancco, explained that The appointment will be for the concessionaire to expose the action plan it has for the project, with or without the signing of addendum 13.

From his point of view, the company Cobra does not intend to terminate the contract, despite the letter that the concessionaire Angostura Siguas sent on January 10 to the Regional Government of Arequipa and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

“In this kind of projects there must be the commitment of the national government, I think that in this week of representation the congressmen could bring an opinion. A work table has to be set up with the Ministry of Economy so that there is technical support,” said Hancco, in an interview with La República.

The meeting is scheduled for next Monday from 8:30 am at the headquarters of the Regional Council. All legislators and representatives of Autodema are invited.

Vacancy

On the other hand, Hancco announced that next week a session will be convened to discuss the vacancy of the regional councilors involved in the Los Hijos del Cóndor investigation.

“There are five directors involved, next Wednesday or Thursday we will be convening a session. The call will be made and later the vacancy will proceed, then we have to wait if there is the reconsideration of any of the directors, “he explained.
