The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) held a series of meetings around the ‘Design of a plan to create a smart city system for the improvement of urban planning’.
This project seeks to provide a planning tool for the future implementation of smart cities at the national level, and is oriented towards the development of safe and sustainable transport to contribute to the reduction of vehicular congestion and environmental pollution.
It also implies a national plan in the proposal of a legal framework that facilitates its implementation and the development of a pilot in a city to be chosen in the process. This design phase lasts until March 2022.
The MTC promotes the development of the aforementioned project with the cooperation of the Korean Ministry of Transport, Land and Infrastructure (Molit).
The aforementioned initiative also aims to strengthen the capacities of the State to meet citizen needs, creating a synergy with the sectors involved.
