Perupetro announces the entry of Petroperú to Block I of Talara since December

Perupetro reported the start of negotiations with the company Petróleos del Perú (Petroperú), for its entry as an operator to Lot I, located in Talara (Piura), as of December 27.

This income represents the return of the state oil company to production in the Talara fields, after almost thirty years, as part of the strengthening of the company promoted by the current government.

Block I is currently operated by the company UNNA (former GMP), but the term of said contract expires on December 26 of this year, after 30 years of validity of the term established by the Organic Hydrocarbons Law (LOH), to oil exploration and production contracts.

“The entry of Petroperú to Block I will allow the state company to supply its own oil production to the Talara Refinery, which represents an important milestone in the company’s vertical integration process,” said Perupetro.

The current production of Block I is 539 barrels of oil per day. It has 99 wells drilled and the investment made in this lot amounts to 135.9 million dollars.

Perupetro: allocation of Lot I

In July of this year, Perupetro carried out the citizen participation process prior to the assignment of a new operator for Block I considering the expiration of the Contract, in compliance with the Citizen Participation Regulations for Hydrocarbon Activities.

These workshops were held with the local authorities, population and civil society of the districts of La Brea and Pariñas, in Talara, area of influence of Lot I, achieving an important participation of the residents, complying with strict sanitary protocols.
