The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) authorized the publication of the Draft Supreme Decree that dictates provisions for the modification of the Regulations for the Closure of Mines, approved by Supreme Decree No. 033-2005-EM, as well as its Statement of Reasons.
Through Ministerial Resolution No. 020-2022-MINEM/DM, a period of fifteen business days is established, counted from this Thursday, January 20, so that the interested parties can send their opinions and suggestions to the General Directorate of Mining Environmental Affairs.
“The draft standards that regulate general environmental matters or that have environmental effects will be made known to the public to receive opinions and suggestions from interested parties,” the resolution explains. The document bears the signature of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Eduardo González Toro.
One of the specific functions of Minem is to promote sustainable investment and activities in the sector, as well as exercise the power of environmental sector authority for mining activities, in accordance with the policy guidelines and its own established national regulations.
