The Agency for Environmental Assessment and Enforcement (OEFA) issued immediate administrative measures for La Pampilla SAA Refinery, operated by Repsol, in order to prevent cumulative or more serious damage after the crude oil spill occurred during the unloading operations of the Mare Doricum Tanker, in Ventanilla. There are four different measures that will be fulfilled at the same time.
The company must identify the areas affected by the displacement of the spilled hydrocarbon, within a maximum period of two business days, to avoid major effects that have repercussions on the soil, water, flora, fauna and hydrobiological resources.
It must also lead the cleaning actions of the soil area affected by the crude oil spill in the Cavero beach area and other areas that could be affected, within a maximum period of 10 business days.
Parallel to this, Repsol will have to secure the area, contain and recover the supernatant hydrocarbon in the seawater of Ventanilla and in other areas in which there is the presence of hydrocarbon, within a maximum period of five business days.
Finally, the operators of La Pampilla will have to carry out the segregation, storage, transport and final disposal of the hazardous and non-hazardous solid and liquid waste generated as a result of the cleaning activities of the affected areas, within a maximum period of eight days. skillful.
OEFA warned that, in case the Repsol company does not comply with the dictated measures, the corresponding administrative, civil and criminal actions will be carried out. It should be noted that these are business days counted from today, so Saturday and Sunday of this and next week will not be counted, according to Peruvian environmental regulations.
