The Internal Revenue Service (SRI) collected $ 4,810 million for taxes from large taxpayers in the period from May to December 2021. This figure represents An additional $660 million compared to the same period in 2020.
The economic sectors that report the greatest contribution in the collection of large taxpayers are financial and insurance, commerce, manufacturing, oil and mining and also communication.
The SRI also reported that, in the period between May and December 2021, the Directorate of Large Taxpayers finished 154 control processes (intensive, extensive, semi-intensive, risk analysis, persuasive), whose performance amounts to $205 million; and achieved a forced effective recovery of $95 million.
The general director of the SRI, Marisol Andrade, pointed out that in Ecuador there are 680 large taxpayers, between individuals and companies, and that the positive collection figures are the result of the actions carried out by the SRI to control correct compliance of the tax obligations of these taxpayers, which represent more than 53% of the total collection.
Large taxpayers are those companies or natural persons considered by the SRI as such, due to their fiscal importance and number of transactions in their respective sectors, So it is it is essential to carry out permanent and specialized control and monitoring.
The Large Taxpayers Directorate was created in May 2021 in adherence to the best international practices and in order to ensure and increase the collection potential, with the premise of leading this group towards the highest standards of fiscal conduct.
