Peruvian companies increased by 400% the use of telephone exchanges in the cloud

In Peru, the demand for telephone exchanges in the cloud grew from 2,500 users at the beginning of 2020 to 10,000 users at the end of 2021, that is, 400% more in less than two years, according to the telecommunications firm Optimal Networks.

Optical Networks says this increase is a result of companies’ need for team-oriented work, collaboration and remote work that was fueled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic accelerated the virtualization process that companies had been adapting to their business model. Faced with the need to create safe spaces for workers, video call platforms. Microsoft Teams took a leading role in the market”, says Carlos Manrique, Optical Networks Unified Communications Product Specialist.

In this sense, Manrique details the following points that organizations must take into account when choosing their work platform:

  • Make it friendly and intuitive and easy to use.

  • Make it a secure network. During the pandemic, some platforms (such as zoom) experienced situations where outsiders accessed virtual meetings or classes. This was a determining detail for many companies to opt for options that have a higher security system.
  • Another point that Peruvian companies have found attractive is the strength that Teams has in native integration with all its solutions, including Metaswitch, which today is part of the Microsoft family and which Allows you to assign a telephone number from Peru to MS Teams accounts and with it they can make and receive calls like a conventional phone.
